Twisty is a disgraced clown who uses increasingly twisted methods to regain his position as an entertainer of children. He is a character in American Horror Story portrayed by John Carroll Lynch. He wears a makeshift prosthetic mask nearly as terrifying as the disfigured face beneath. Twisty: The Clown Chronicles is a series of comic books published in the American Horror Story universe, whose stories are based on in-universe real-life murders of Twisty, a serial killer active in the 1950s Jupiter, Florida. Twisty the Clown (portrayed by John Carroll Lynch) originally was a slow-witted but gentle clown at a freak show in 1943. Jealous of his popularity, the freaks of the carnival spread rumors that he was a child molester and drove him away. Twisty is a retired clown who is a serial killer and kidnapper.
