I've tried this game on the dev site last Friday. This game is a strategy game very similar to My Life Story and Life Quest, you have to manage your own life, where to work, what to eat, where to go and customize your own character! The graphics are probably a little bit cartoonist (worse than Life Quest) and because i don't like this kind of game so i get bored after 15 mins of gameplay so my grades below will be depending on my thoughts of the game only!
Hope many of you will enjoy.Grades:Graphics: CMusic: BStory: CFeatures: BGameplay: COverall: CMy grades can be as high as A. or as low as F!Edited on at 12:48:08 AM PST. Hi all.I can see this game being loved by some, loathed by some & mediocre by others. As TeamSD says this game is very similar to other games in its genre. If you have not tried them (this sort of game) you must as it may grab you when you least expect it.It has strategy, cutesy & challenges & more to the point, you are playing YOU & make your own decisions & life choices etc. However, it is not for me. I still prefer Sims2 (even over Sims3) if I want to act out personal scenarios.TBH, this is another game I felt would have been an absolute brilliant release10 years ago, but for me, it felt dated. However, it is still good for what it is.Jojo. This game is like a very aggravating version of LifeQuest! The way the menus are set up, dragging them from side to side, you can't see all your options at once, anywhere. The career paths are very confusing, as are the class requirements.
The days are extremely short, pretty much all I did most days was eat two hamburgers. The worst part for me, though, was in the third scenario one of the goals is to buy a sofa. Except when I would go to the furniture store it told me that a sofa was not available to me. Not until I moved to a larger apartment, which I saw zero way to do.I may be missing a lot in this game but, frankly, I can't be bothered to keep searching that hard for 'how to play'. It's just clunky and not fun. Krasniikot wrote:This game is like a very aggravating version of LifeQuest! It's just clunky and not fun.A perfect summation of this game - had potential but lost it too early. Like krasniikot said, 'clunky' is a good way to describe this game.
The menus are pretty awful, and it's irritating having to drag the items along to find the one you want. I really liked Life Quest, and I hoped this would be somewhat similar. It is, but it's not nearly as entertaining. The first goals are easy to accomplish. After that, though, the game just sort of drags. The end of the day is also annoying. The game shows what remaining bars you have left draining, and then refills them for the next day, but that takes way too much time and I couldn't find a way to skip it.
In other games you can just click and it shows the animation of the bars filling up much faster. This game is a no-go.
Darthpanda wrote:I have to agree with the people above. I loved Life quest (and the others like it), and I'd been waiting for so long for another fun 'clicky' game, but this is pretty tiresome. The career paths are unclear, and the menu scrolling is just annoying. On the other hand, I am considering buying it anyway, as I want to encourage Big Fish to put out more of this type of game, and less dismal and creepy hidden object ones.
At least this isn't depressing.I hope you try Magic Life.its gameplay is exactly like Life Quest but more in depth with more choices and customization of avatar. I was an avid player of Life Quest so i was interested to see how this played out.Very very poor copy in my opinion.Menus, as stated before are extremely clunky. You have to go into your 'Facebook' and go to Stats to see the numeric values on your stats when they should be available by mouse over on the main screen.A lot of the menu items don't even make sense. I finally did break down and buy it, I must confess. I'm pretty desperate for games and it does get a tad bit better. As Imberis pointed out, the 'day turnover' graphic is WAY too long. I spent easily three times the amount of time waiting for those at the end of each day than I did playing.Having finished the game now, I can say that the goals make absolutely no sense whatsoever. Maybe a spoiler?
You have to buy a $13,000 plane one level and then a few levels later you have to buy a $4000 sailboat. Why not vice versa? And why did I have to take a knitting class to become a Film Director? So weird.I did discover that you're sent Career opportunities to your 'Pacebook', so you don't have to jet to the Town Hall over and over, but they weren't actually lined up with my current skills or experience and were often below my level.I figured out the issue with the sofa. The 'sofa' is actually called a 'footstool' in the furniture store, much like the 'Doctorate Dissertation' you need is called a 'Master's Thesis' in the University. Got that?I liked the options of vehicles and entertainment.
I don't want to be a complete downer.Absolutely no relationship options in this one, in case anyone was wondering, which was my favorite part of LifeQuest so that was a bummer. I did like My Life Story and Magic Life.Edited on at 6:05:25 AM PST. Thanks Kras for your helpful reviews. All I can say for this game is dreadfulI really wanted to like this game-the ideas for it is good & I like the other two life/sim games. This one has too many glitches.
Very little instruction in what you are supposed to do & no way to restart a level once you understand what to do. Lots of errors-in the clothing store I bought a 'skirt' which was actually pants & instead of a 'buy' button to get a vehicle it said 'paint'. The day was half over before I could do anything! Sometimes I could go 2 days w/o eating-sometimes had to eat twice a day.
Relax in the apt didn't come up til the 4th level but about that point I lost the ability to leave the apt at all. Cute concept-poor execution.
Path To Success is a fairly ok game is a life quest and my life story rip-off tho i went ahead and got it hey i got time to waist lol but after buying it i have a few issues 1. I lost my clothes after spending the 300 bucks on them!2. Sometimes when u go to sleep ur pets or whatever does not show up at alli give it a 2 & 1/2 rating out of 5 oh and another issues is: how much are the hotel apts???
When u click on buy it just says basically you cannot afford it now how in the heck am i supposed to save up it i dont know how much?? Lots of errors-in the clothing store I bought a 'skirt' which was actually pants & instead of a 'buy' button to get a vehicle it said 'paint'.Just wanted to add that the paint-button for a vehicle (I tried a bike) really brings you to the paint-window first, for customizing (like the clothes earlier). The buy-button is there then.I'm a little undecided still about this game. I seem to recall that the other games mentioned above had more clicking (night, eating) and decisions, but the days here are really short. I guess I'd find it more fun if I could play around a bit more with the classes, jobs and so on.
To sum it up: more frustration than funi wanted to smack my girl so many times for the lag times, the checking the 'pacebook,' the standing around,. Ugh!!and the little sound effects did not make me happy, either. Every time i went to the college and the bell rang. Well, for those of you who have played the other games, that's the sound that says the day is over and off to bed you go. But not so here. In fact, there is no sound that does that. And to top it off, although you have time on the clock, you may not be able to do anything but wait for the time to tick down - meaning you really only get half your dayand gone are the days of the $25 fish.
Fish now cost $1200! And most of the classes depend on your purchases outside the school. Buy a pet, a toy, and a whistle. Buy three appliances. And there's no such thing as a cheap meal with a decent boost of happiness to 'fill you up' - no, you may have to buy two or three meal items depending on how hard you're working and, frankly, that spells 'no happiness' for me!so let's see, i can't afford to eat, i can't afford to pay my tuition, i can't afford new stuff for class, i can't afford new clothes.
How am i paying for rent and this stupid 'pacebook' account which i'm assuming works on an internet/data plan?? And why do i have a button to check it if the game is going to open it at the beginning of every day for me? And keep it open so i can't go to work to earn the money i need for all the crap it's telling me i have to buy!my niece 6 loves to play lifequest. And i love it, too, along with magic life but i know that she would be even more frustrated than i was since she has a limited written vocabulary and it takes her a while to read anything. Did i mention that your days tick away while you're reading the multitudes of comments and pages and whatnot that get thrown at you? Oh, yeah, she would really love that!so this one is already in the recycle bin and i'm moving on. And since she's happy with the newly purchased 'puppy sanctuary,' i don't have to worry about this one coming up again!to those of you braving this one through it's pitfalls, i wish you all the success in the world!to those of you passing it buy, here's to a less stressful day!
I play Life Quest. Over and over again, lol, so when I saw Path to Success, I figured it would be something similar, but different. I liked their Create a Character a little more than LQ, but it took me a bit to get exactly the right colors I wanted. When you open it up, the tutorial is very bare to me. It shows you the few basic things and then it seems you are on your own.
Which is fine because I hate long tutorials, but thought it could be a little more informative. That's probably just me, though.Didn't like how you dragged the menus for food, clothing, etc. Beat the first few levels pretty quickly, but the one about the sofa threw me for a little. I kept going to the sofa (has a picture of a foot stool), but said I needed a bigger place, so I went looking to see how to do this.
Couldn't figure it out, so went back and saw that 'foot stool' has the picture of a sofa on it. Bought it from there and went on with the game. The 'night' seems too long and I couldn't skip it.
Tried clicking, pressing keys, but nothing let me skip. There isn't much time in the day. I mean, once I went and ate and worked once or twice, I had no time for anything else. Was also a little disappointed there was no 'love interest' during the time I played. I love that part in LQ.Just didn't pull me in. It's a no buy for me.
I fully agree with all of the criticism leveled against Path to Success, and I am a little surprised that BFG put this game out for sale since I believe that it was copied from BFG's own Life Quest, a charming little game. A large part of the problem with Path to Success is that it has no voice-over, so you are involved in silent competition, which isn't much fun. But more important are the numerous illogical elements of the game and the glitsches. As others have pointed out, putting the 'sofa' not under 'sofa,' but under 'ottoman,' was quite misleading (thanks to whoever posted the correct location). The game also had quite illogical career paths, with high level careers coming before lower level ones; I quite agree that having to take knitting before becoming a film director didn't make much sense. You were left totally on your own guessing how much a hotel condo or a mansion cost-and the mansion only seemed to be about $4,000, which makes absolutely no sense in comparison with airplanes and ships. I bought a helicopter, but that didn't count as an airplane, and I was never able to get a job as a sea captain (? I think that was the career) because I couldn't seem to go sailing 4 times, even though I had gotten on another career path earlier by going sailing 10 times.
I also had the startling experience of having to leave the house in only my bra and panties because all of my clothes disappeared-luckily after I had worked as a model. You got to deposit money in a bank, but why didn't you receive any interest from your deposits? It was fun going to the circus, the aquarium, and the marina, but you didn't seem to get prizes for going to all the shows although you did get a prize for trying all of the dishes in the restaurant. Also, you aren't told that the game will abruptly end when you become a business man, so all of those other awards for 'sets' (like the jewelry and cars) I didn't get. And I'm certainly not slogging through this game again! It's really too bad: the game had a great deal of potential, but it fell so far short that I wouldn't recommend this game even as a DD.Edited on at 5:23:00 PM PST. I only played the hour demo. I'm surprised to say that this game is a no buy for me.
I LOVED Life Quest. I am a huge fan of that game. This game is a so-so copy of that, and not too involving for me.The graphics are not as good as the graphics in Lifequest, and that takes away from the charm of the game.
Everything is insanely expensive, and good luck paying for anything with your $12 an hour job. The tutorial is awful. I played almost a full hour before I moved up to my glamorous $12 an hour Waiter job. I had to play a little to figure out how to move up or qualify for college classes - the tutorial was of no help at all. By the end of the hour I was bored stiff. Get up, eat, work as much as you can, go to sleep. Sometimes alternate with a college class or a movie to keep your happiness up.
Very repetitive and not much fun. Sorry, but this just isn't for me. Pirates of the caribbean tow pc.
